Emma Misfeldt's life dates and parents' names came from "Family Tree of Mathias and Maria Rheingans" by Jean Rheingans Rand (available for $20 from Jean Rand, 4143 S Regal Manor Court, New Berlin, WI 53151). Other birthdates are from the 1900 federal census.

* Henry and Martha Misfeldt's parents's names are probably correct. (I'll also try to verify Martha's maiden name through other sources.) Info come from the following marriage record:

According to the book, Chippewa County, Wisconsin: Past and Present (Vol. 1, 1913, p. 408):
"John and Emily Misfeldt emigrated from Germany to America in 1869 and located in Chippewa Falls. He engaged in the lumber business and also worked in the pine woods."

1870 census, First Ward, Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co, WI, page 21 or 25?:
"Horace Misfordt" (age 29), laborer, living in the household of Peter Hollsey, with two children Henry (6) and Elizabeth (4). "Horace" was born in Baiden and the two children in Wisconsin (but I strongly suspect that this is our Misfeldts and the children's birthplaces are in error). If this is them, then apparently Emilie died before the 1870 census. [Hans/John remarried in 1871 - see marriage record below]

1880 census, Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co, WI, E.D. 177, sheet 15, lines 13-18:
John Misfeldt (40), common laborer, listed with wife Bertha [nee Betka/Betke? - see marriage record below] and children Henry (16), Lizzie (14), Willie (8), and Emma (6). John, Bertha, Henry and Lizzie were all born in Germany, while Willie and Emma were born in Wisconsin.

Also in 1880 Census, Anson Town, Chippewa Co, WI, ED 187, sheet 6, lines 7-12:
Mary Misfeldt (10) enumerated as granddaughter in the household of Henry Bucholtz (67) with the word "Bastard" written in the occupation column! Is this perhaps Hans/John's daughter with Wilhemina Buchholz? [see marriage record below]

1900 census, Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co., WI, E.D. 41, sheet 3, lines 35-39:
Henry Misfeldt (age 35), wagon maker, listed with wife Martha (31)and daughters Emma (9), Erna (6), and Florence (5). Henry was born in Germany, came to the U.S. in 1868, and was a naturalized citizen. Martha was also born in Germany and came to the US in 1889.

1900 census, Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co., E.D. 41, sheet 8, lines 58-61:
At 16 Grove Street
John Misfeldt (59), widowed, grocery store keeper, listed with daughter Emma (26). Interestingly, Henry's name, "son" and age 35 had been written in and then crossed out, replaced by "Emma," daughter, age 26. John, born in Germany, came to the US in 1868 and was a naturalized citizen.

At 10 Grove Street
William Misfeldt (28), grocery store clerk, listed with wife Hilda [nee Dubberske? see marriage record below]. Hilda was born in Germany and came to the US in 1882.

1920 census, Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co. Wisconsin, E.D. 59, sheet 12, lines 13-16.
At 106 N. State street
Henry Misfeldt (age 55), wagon maker (own shop), listed with wife Martha (50) and daughters, Erna (27) and Florence (24). A family member recalled that Emma Misfeldt Rheingans' daughter had two maiden aunts named Misfeldt, so I'm guessing that Erna and Florence never married. This enumeration listed Henry's immigration date as 1869. (Martha's was still 1889, and they were both naturalized.)

1920 census, Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co. Wisconsin, E.D. 59, sheet 6, lines 95-98.
At 19 N Grove
William Misfeldt (47), grocery store proprietor, listed with wife Hilda (45), and daughters Irene (17) and Ruth (11). Hilda came to the US in 1882 and was naturalized in 1899 [presumably she became a citizen when she married in 1898?]
