Introduction to Altered Books

Fee: $32

Turn an unwanted book into a work of art! Learn how to convert a children's board book into a memory album, art journal or even an artistic creation to display in your home. No experience necessary to begin! If you are already an artist, scrapbooker, rubberstamper or other creative person, you can alter a book to experiment with new techniques and design ideas. Students should bring a used children's board book, scissors and glue stick to class. All other supplies will be provided, though students may like to bring their own favorite decorative papers and images to personalize their work.

Introduction to Collage with Paper & Paint
Saturday, May 8, 2010
from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Fee: $35 --
Class Supply List -- All other supplies provided

You don't have to be able to draw to make interesting and effective artwork. Learn how to combine paper images with acrylic paints and mediums to create your own unique compositions. This can be a messy class, so dress accordingly or bring an apron or smock. Be prepared to get paint on your hands!

Introduction to Artist Trading Cards
Saturday, August 7, 2010
from 1- 4 p.m.
Fee: $40 ($35 for Center members)

The "ATC" is a 2½ x 3½-inch art card made to be traded with other artists. Learn simple methods to create your own original small works of art from the organizer of the Milwaukee Artist Trading Card group. Even if you don't consider yourself an artist, you can use collage techniques to make ATCs for display, gifts or trading. You'll also learn the basics of trading etiquette and where to trade locally and on-line.

Supplies will be provided, but students should feel free to bring their own favorite decorative papers, rubber stamps and small collage images to personalize their work.
